Specializing in traditional Greek and Mediterranean dishes, their goal is to satisfy an array of palates through balanced nutrition.

Please bear in mind that Yoga Teacher Training at Evia Silence isn't your typical health and wellness organic farm retreat.  While you'll certainly enjoy nourishing meals, abundant love, and genuine Greek-style hospitality, do remember that our food options are limited to what's available on Greek islands.

Are you ready to transform your life?

Practice Without
Limitations

With the correct guidance you will be amazed at what your body is capable of. Redefine what you thought possible.

Teach With
Sophistication

Most teachers know what to teach. That part is easy. You will learn how to teach it right and why to teach it that way. That takes skill.

Transform
Your Life

It sounds cliché but it is true. Yoga will improve your life and those you share it with. Don’t you want a change? Then change.

Students that loved this course

Joanna and Martin are excellent teachers. Martin will definitely teach you how you should improve your alignment so you actually feel something and get the real benefits. I for instance have always thought that I will have to practice some more years to begin with arm balances but after a good preparatory Vinyasa class of Joanna I was in side crow and other crazy asanas which felt amazing! Thank you for those moments! And receiving adjustments from such talented and experienced teachers as Martin and Joanna is such a treat. To whom would I recommend this YTT? If you love doing yoga, you don’t fear sweating (Ashtanga!), are a curious person and would love to spend a good time in wonderful Greece – go for it!

Nora TabeaEngland, UK

This teacher training was fantastic. One of the most valuable things was taking the asanas back to basics — understanding the foundations really enabled me to deepen my practice and correct the mistakes I had been making unknown for years. More than just the asanas, the course places physical practice in the broader philosophy and helped me understand that yoga is about so much more than what happens on the mat.

Jenni SmoutEngland, UK

I decided to do a yoga teacher training, not with the intention to become a yoga trainer, but to improve my knowledge about yoga and especially about the physical part - alignment. I did a lot of research to find out which training would be the best for me. In the end I chose Alpha yoga school because of the very personal contact with Joanna from the beginning. She convinced me somehow to do the training and with her very open, helpfulness and friendly attitude she gave me the support I needed. These attributes I felt during my whole training. Joanna and Martin are very open, lovely persons and funny (especially Martin). They always take the time for you and your questions and wishes. During the whole training Joanna and Martin were very close with the whole group. I improved my alignment and learned to feel my body with a lot more attention. Also mentally I developed new strength and find back some of my positivity, gratefulness and calmness that I lost a bit in the stressfully daily-life at home.

Gesine Matter

If you search for a high quality yoga teacher training, which challenges you, makes you laugh and opens new perspectives of living your life, you should choose this one! It was an incredible time, we learned so much about our own body, yoga philosophy and how to teach in a safe and good way. I came as a yoga loving girl and left as a yoga loving teacher with a bag full of new friends and unforgettable memories. It was on the one hand really challenging and exhausting and on the other hand such an intense, emotional, wonderful time with a wonderful group of people and wonderful teachers!! I highly recommend this yoga teacher training! Lots of Love Lea

Lea Hausner

You made everyone feel so welcome and supported throughout this challenging and intensive journey. I am definitely missing the group energy and the fun morning Ashtanga and Vinyasa flows! I just did my first Mysore style class and it was a unique and new experience for me. This YTTC will be an experience I will never forget and I'm so happy I went on this journey - thank you for it all!

Can I see some reviews from the previous students?

Please feel free to listen to real reviews from our ex-students. We encourage you to watch them, contact these people and come back to us if you have more questions. We are here to help you make the best decision about your yoga teacher training.

Should I invest in 200hour Yoga Teacher Training even if I don’t want to become a yoga teacher?

Yes!
It is perfectly common that yoga students do not attend the course with the intention to teach right after the training. If you’re interested in deepening your yoga practice and learning more about yoga, we welcome you with open arms. We designed the training for 2 kinds of people. For those who know they want to become yoga teachers. And for those whose main aim is a strong and safe self-practice.?‍♂️?‍♂️
First, we need to practice yoga. As our personal practice deepens, teaching others may naturally blossom. Halfway through the training, many students realize that they actually enjoy teaching. Only after you teach the first class and it’s over, you will have a real idea whether you actually enjoy teaching. You will start the training and who knows...?
The most important element of the whole experience is immersion. Absorb the teachings and do it for yourself. You will learn so much about yourself, your mind, body, strengths, and limitations. And even overcome them.
That is exactly how we started our yoga careers. We just wanted to know how to practice on our own. And now we train you.

Who are the teachers in each course? I'd like to know that beforehand

Each course has a team of highly skilled and experienced teachers. This is not a one-man show. You will study with a team of 3 teachers, each one of them an expert in what they practice and teach. If you join us on the 17th of July, you will study with Sean Robinson, Danni Cullen, and Jamie Blakely.
If you join us on the 31st of August, you will study with Nathalie Grahlert, Danni Cullen, and Jamie Blakely.

Is your 200-Hour YTTC suitable for beginners?

This 200-hour course is open to all levels of yoga practitioners.
The most important factor is not how long you have been doing yoga, or how flexible you are. Let us shout this to you: Whether you are flexible or not, is not important. Flexibility is a byproduct of practicing yoga.
The most important is that the applicant comes with an open mind and eagerness to learn. You don't need to be flexible, strong, or do crazy postures. If you have an injury, then join us! Besides, who doesn't have injuries?
In our training, you will deepen your practice and knowledge no matter where you are at the moment. The best time to move forward is now.

Can you tell me more about the retreat center?

Evia Silence is located only a 2.5 hours drive from Athens Airport. It is quiet, very close to the sea, and perfect for yoga studies. The yoga studio has a sea view, 2 AC units, mosquito nets, a hardwood floor, a projector, and all the necessary equipment you will need during the course. It has a ceiling and walls and it is a proper space, not just a wooden deck exposed to the weather. The restaurant area, the rooms, and the yoga studio are all located on the same premise, therefore you don't need to walk from your room to the yoga shala. Maybe 30 steps :-)) The sea is just 30 seconds from your room.

How can I prepare for my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Course?

Once you secure your deposit, you will have access to a Google Drie Folder with everything you need. We suggest that you get familiar with the names of the postures in Sanskrit and practice yoga classes that last 90 minutes or more. A few months before the course starts, we recommend you get into the habit of waking up at 7:00 am.  Also, we encourage students to practice yoga at least 4 times per week, preferably Vinyasa or Ashtanga Yoga. We will also send you Youtube links so that you can practice with us.
We recommend you practice meditation or awareness techniques. This can take the form of guided meditation, chanting, breathwork, seated silence, and observation techniques. If none of these float your boat, try getting outside and connecting with nature.
Maintain a healthy diet to prepare both your physical body and your mind. In addition, consult your doctor in case of any medical conditions or history of injury.

Is there a written and / or practical exam on the 200-Hour YTTC?

Yes.
You will take a multiple-choice exam in the anatomy, philosophy, and asana section. A practical assessment in the form of peer teaching will also take place towards the end of the course.
By the time assessments roll around, you will be more than prepared. We work with students to make sure they are thoroughly prepared and provide one-on-one mentoring if needed.
If for any reason you don't pass your assessments, you will have another opportunity to take them again.

Does the studio have a sea view?

Yes! The studio has an amazing sea view, the restaurant has a sea view and the rooms have a sea view. The sea is crystal clear and you can swim safely and freely. Bring your sunblock!

How many students do you accept per course?

We limit our groups to 25-26 students. This is a perfect number for both students and teachers.  Students can experience the benefits of group energy, and practice real teaching scenarios. Yet, teachers can provide the personal attention students need and deserve. Evia Silence has 11 rooms (so book early) and the yoga studio fits 26 people.

How is the weather in Greece in the summer?

July can get quite hot, however, because the retreat center is right by the sea, it's breezy and pleasant. In September, the weather is less hot, but it's still warm, with the temperature being around 27 degrees Celcius. Mornings and evenings are a bit colder. Prepare to sweat in the morning classes, no matter the month :-))

What can I find close to the retreat center?

The retreat center is located in a small fishermen's village and far from the hustle and bustle. There are 2 local restaurants open all day long serving traditional Greek food and fresh fish. You can also take a walk around the village and see the sunset, which is a must. Once a week, the students can place an order at a local supermarket in case they need more food. The Blue Lagoon is a wonderful beach located about 10-15 minutes by taxi.

What can I buy from the retreat center? Do they accept card?

You can buy coffee, non-alcoholic drinks, and fruits. Laundry can also be provided by the retreat center for about 12. You can use your card to pay for these things, but there is no ATM close to the retreat center. The closest town is about 25 minutes by car/taxi.

What can we do on our days off?

The retreat center can organize a boat trip for you on your day off. You will visit beautiful beaches, swim in caves and swim in crystal clear waters. They can also call a taxi and in 10-15 minutes you can be at the Blue Lagoon Beach - a place with a beach bar, restaurant, and sunbeds. Or you can just rest by the beach at the retreat center.

Will we learn pregnancy/prenatal yoga?

We don't teach prenatal yoga in our courses. This is a niche and it's something that you will have to learn separately. Prenatal yoga courses are usually short, around 50-hours maximum. You need to have a 20-hours YTT in order to take these special courses.

Do you offer an internship yoga program?

We offer scholarships to our ex-students. We call it the "Karma Yogi program".
To be eligible, you must first complete either a 200-hour or 300-hour program with Alpha Yoga School. This way we know your yoga practice, personality, teaching skills. The rest goes from there.
As a Karma Yogi, you have the rare opportunity to do the whole yoga course again and allow all the teaching to sink in. The second time you follow the same course, you deepen your understanding of all the aspects of yoga. You re-learn, reinforce, and grow confidence in teaching skills. All that is a great learning environment, always supported by the lead teachers. That is what makes it a great opportunity.
The program also offers rare opportunities to teach yoga classes and workshops. It is up to each karma yogi how far he/she wants to take it. Karma yogi can always join the philosophy, anatomy lectures, or any other activities on schedule.
In exchange, we ask karma yogis to assist us in the morning asana classes, alignment, and adjustments classes, in making announcements, and in bridging the students' communication with us and the retreat center.
As we do not own the retreat centers, karma yogi will pay for her/his food and accommodation. Karma yogi does not pay anything to the teachers.

In which countries can I teach with the yoga certificate that I earn?

The certificate from our school is recognized worldwide.
Our yoga teacher training programs are registered with Yoga Alliance USA and Yoga Alliance Professionals UK. These are the two most worldwide recognized yoga organizations.

After you receive your diploma you can register as a Registered Yoga Teacher with either organization. It is a paid service. You can register with these organizations only if you want, but you don't have to. This registration is not a prerequisite for you to teach yoga.
Your diploma will be accepted anywhere in the world. You can start teaching by showing the certificate you received from us. Studios can ask for your diploma. Some studios prefer to see your practice and ask you to teach a demo class. It depends from studio to studio.

What should I pack? Do I need to bring my yoga mat?

Once you reserve your spot, you will have access to a Google Drive Folder with all the information you need. Tips on booking your flights, what to bring, how to prepare for the course, suggested reading, and so on. The retreat center has basic yoga mats, so it's up to you if you want to bring your favorite mat. You can also bring just a yoga towel, put it on top of the mat from Evia Silence and you're ready to go.

Can I stay somewhere outside of the retreat center and pay only for the course and food?

The training programs that we offer are designed as residential ones. This means that students stay at the retreat center where the training is being conducted. The main reason is for the student to get immersed 100% into the yoga studies and its teachings for 3 weeks and thus absorb the maximum.

The classes start at 07:00 am and some days they finish as late as 7:00 pm. By the time you finish dinner with the group, it will be 8:00 pm. Then you need to go back to your room. We also request punctuality and high energy from students, so driving/walking in the morning and at night would make you very exhausted.
