CPD For Yoga Teachers in Greece

Advanced Yoga Course in Vinyasa Flow

This CPD for yoga teachers is designed to help yoga teachers refine their already existing knowledge and skills. If you don't have the time (or money) to take a 300hr yoga teacher training, this is the ideal course for you.

A prerequisite to joining this yoga course is a completed 200hour Yoga Teacher Training. You will refine your teaching skills as a yoga instructor while enjoying being a student again. 3 passionate and experienced teachers will be there to support and guide you through this educational YTT. This course is taking place along the 300hr YTT and you will join us in the first week. Should you fancy (and we know you will) you can stay with us longer and why not for the whole 300hr YTT?

At Alpha Yoga School, we believe that we are all constantly moving towards growth and knowledge as both yoga students and yoga teachers. Practicing and teaching yoga is a never-ending path of evolution.

"There's always room for change, but you have to be open to that change" - Kathryn Budig

One-week YTT in Details

Each morning you will practice dynamic Vinyasa Yoga. The classes will be dynamic and challenging so you can deepen your practice. They are intended to build strength in the body and to utilize this existing flexibility for deeper posture variations.

Whether we see ourselves as beginners or advanced in our practice, we all have something to learn. As teachers, we provide both support and challenge to suit each individual's needs. Students can have the class at the end so that you can practice it again and why not, teach it to your students?

Students will also be acquainted with creative, intelligent sequencing and decoding anatomical principles across asana families to arrive at deeper, more advanced posture variations.

In this theoretical and practical module, you will learn new tools and refine old ones, such as:

  • 4 tips to help you demonstrate less and observe more
  • teach based on observation

  • prioritize observation

  • 7 things you should know when teaching beginners

  • tips for new yoga teachers

  • usage of props effectively

  • how to demonstrate on a cold body
  • communication skills such as group dynamics, time management, and the establishment of priorities and boundaries.

You will teach in small groups every day observing, analyzing, and assisting in other students’ classes. You will receive constructive feedback from the other students and your teachers.

Alignment:

The deepest expression is not the ‘most advanced’ shape of a pose. It's the breath and concentration required to practice it. We will learn how to organize the body to allow safety in the deepest expressions of asanas.

Hands-on adjustments:

It has become very common to get adjusted in yoga classes, with many students expecting to get adjusted. Since there are infinite possibilities of how to adjust different body types in a posture, adjusting has become an art.

While some students respond to verbal or visual instructions, others respond to hands-on adjustments. That makes adjustments a very effective way of communicating with some of your students. (the kinesthetic ones) Often the best way to understand something is not through information but through experience.

You will revise the most common vinyasa yoga postures. While in our 200hr YTT, we teach students 1-2 adjustments for each pose, here you will learn more adjustments for the same pose.

During the workshops, we break down complex postures like handstands, deep backbends, and chaturanga dandasana.

We teach baby pre-requisite steps that include preparation exercises, appropriate warm-ups, and requirements for the full expression of the posture. These classes will bring safety, awareness, and mindfulness to your practice and teaching.

Anyone can teach yoga and anyone can put random asanas next to each other. Many people do just that. But great sequencing is an art and it shows your unique understanding of what an amazing class can look like. Initially, people come to your class to discover yoga, but they return because of your sequence, what you say, how you say it, and your understanding of the practice. Great sequencing along with hands-on adjustments will make a real impact on your students' practice and make them come back for more.

This course is suitable for all yoga teachers, either you have just finished a 200hour YTT or you've been teaching for some time. The most important prerequisite is to come with an open mind and step into the position of a student. What a luxury that is - for the teacher to become a student again. You will connect with other passionate teachers, share ideas, and make friends.

At the end of the course, you will receive a 40-hour certificate of continuous education from Yoga Alliance USA. Therefore, you can use it to maintain your membership if you are signed up with them.

We are hosting this one-week teacher training just 2 hours away from the Athens Airport. The retreat center is a 5-minute drive or 6km from Nea Styra village which has mini markets, restaurants, coffee shops, pharmacy, and everything you need. Eco Filion Suites and Hotel is a retreat center amphitheatrically built near a waterfront village on Evia Island. Are you "Advanced"?

Who is this one-week YTT for?

To attend this one-week yoga course you must have completed a 200hour Yoga Teacher Training in any style and be willing to be a student again.

The applicant needs to be in good physical and mental condition. Let us clarify that good physical condition doesn't mean being flexible or strong. We also welcome stiff students and those working with injuries. Besides, who doesn't have injuries? Most important is that you have an open mindset and willingness to learn. This is what makes an advanced student a beginner.

Basic English language understanding is required as the course is conducted in English. You will study along with the 300-hour students who will be there for 3,5 weeks, allowing you to connect with more yoga teachers. Mainly you will connect with other 200hr teachers who have graduated from Alpha Yoga School and who knows, maybe with people from your own group...

The student group size is expected to be around 15-20 students.

Practice, eat, sleep, repeat...

Yoga Alliance...

Certification by Yoga Alliance USA

This 40-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training is registered with Yoga Alliance U.S.A. and you can use this certificate to maintain your membership.

Every 3 years, each registered yoga teacher (RYT) must log in 30 hours of yoga-related training.

This is an opportunity for Alpha Yoga graduates to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. To share your life experience after the course and your teaching experience.

If you want to get a certificate of 50 hours, you can do that by adding 10 more hours of philosophy and anatomy. The price you pay is the same, however, you will just have less free time in the break.

Overview of this Advanced Yoga Course

Vinyasa Flow classes so that you can improve your physical practice and be a student again.

Deep knowledge of hands-on adjustments. This will turn your drop-in students into loyal customers who will keep on coming back to you for your spot-on adjustments. By the end of the course, you will know how to adjust the most common Vinyasa poses.

Teaching skills (how to give verbal instructions, how to demonstrate poses, how to match verbal instructions to hands-on adjustments). How to teach beginners and what mistakes to avoid when teaching beginners.

Anatomy and Philosophy if you wish to receive a 50-hour certificate. We know that most of our students are such yogi nerds, so we thought we would put this on the table :-)) No extra cost.

Teaching your fellow students and receiving constructive feedback from them and your teacher.

Yesterday I taught my first ever 90min class in the studio and it was amazing!! I was so proud of myself and felt like flying afterwards. One of the students told me afterwards, that she loved how I had so many anatomical and alignment cues - she really felt that was rare to find - and without it “ruining” the flow of the class.
This is with no doubt thanks to you guys! Thank you so incredibly much for everything that you taught me and everything you made possible through Alpha Yoga School! I am so grateful that my gut feeling told me that this was the teacher training for me. That I came back in the summer for the 300-hr YTT was the best decision ever and has definitely made me a better teacher!
Keep doing your incredible work and inspire future knowledgeable and talented yoga teachers ❤️✨ Hugs Signe
